About Us/Me

Hello! We are Brian and Rick and thank you for taking the time to check us out! We met in 2009 at a work event and as soon as it became legal to tie the knot, we did! We also have been dads for four years to our dog, Joey, who we rescued. He can’t wait to be a big brother. Speaking of brothers and sisters, we have many! We are both lucky to be surrounded by significant family, extended family and really good friends. Another cool thing is that Brian is adopted, so adoption has always been special to us and everyone we love. We both value education – each of us have several degrees – and good jobs. Brian works at a nonprofit focused on improving our community and teaches classes at a local university. Rick works at a university in administration, helping students chart their career paths. We purchased a home about 2 years ago, and enjoy the various projects that come with home ownership. The neighborhood is great – it’s safe, close to schools, on a quiet street, with friendly people and something always fun to do. Outside of work and home projects, we love to travel (as you can tell by our pictures). We also enjoy volunteering, being active in church, swimming in our pool, and being outside. While we love all holidays, Christmas is our favorite time of year. In fact, Brian gets to be Santa throughout the season! We have several things that are important to us as we start this journey of being dads. First, love. We want our child to feel loved every single day for who they are and who they want to be. We want them to have respect for themselves and others. We want them to feel safe and free to explore their passions, whatever they may be. They may want to get involved in athletics or learning a new hobby, we will be “all in” and support them as they figure out this thing called life. We can’t wait to wear the big photo button on our coats featuring our kids doing what they love most! And finally, we want them to laugh – in good times and the tough times. We feel the best days are those where laughter fills every room of our house. We can’t wait to add to our family. We can’t wait to be dads!

About You

There's no way for us to express how much we admire and appreciate you. Children who are adopted are awesome, which makes their moms awesome too! Our child will not only have a mother who is brave and strong, but they will also have dads who are brave and strong too. It's amazing that a child's story can be filled with love from so many people. You will always have a place in the relationship as our child's birth mother. Growing up, any time Brian asked about his adoption, the answers were always focused on love. We promise to raise our child the same way - with love for their mom, love for their daddies, and love for the process that brought us all toghether. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
