About Us/Me

Hello!  We are excited to tell you a little bit about ourselves and hope you get a sense for who we are.  We met in September 2013 and quickly knew we were the right match for each other.  In August 2014, David proposed, and we got married on October 17, 2015.  We live in Columbus, Ohio, with our dog Gus in the home we bought in March 2016.

Since the beginning, we have known that adoption would be how we built our family.  Due to some chronic health issues that Emily faced, pregnancy was never a viable option, but she always wanted to be a mom.  So when we began having discussions about family early in our relationship, adoption was always our plan - never our "back up plan".  We sort of love that about our story and hope that you do too.

Our marriage is full of a lot of laughter and taking care of each other.  David’s dry sense of humor can sometimes catch Emily so off guard that she’s left laughing endlessly.  Emily’s attention to detail and great planning ensures we are always on track.  Our love of travel has provided a backdrop of fun and lasting memories that we turn to when we need a little pick-me-up from the day-to-day routine.  We have a special memory from our honeymoon in London that can make both of us laugh at the drop of a hat.  We hope that these are foundation of a lifetime of adventures and laughter upon which we build our family.

Emily’s main hobby is playing the piano.  She has played for over 20 years and hopes to foster a love of music in her children.  She also enjoys reading, making home improvements, and spending time with her friends.  David enjoys cooking and baking.  He does nearly all the cooking in our home, and he is famous among friends and family for his custom cheesecakes.  He also enjoys video games and home improvement – he built a large, complex mantle for our living room.  Together, we enjoy watching movies, watching college football, traveling, and the occasional board game.  We’ll occasionally drag our dog, Gus, to the dog park too, but he’s lazy and prefers napping on the couch.

Emily grew up in a small town in West Virginia and moved to Columbus to attend The Ohio State University.  She works as a project manager.  David grew up with a dad in the Navy, so he has lived all over the US and the world.  He graduated from Franklin University and is in data analytics.

We hope this little bit of information is helpful to you in making this important decision.  We are thankful for the opportunity to meet you and love, nurture, and raise your child.  If you choose us, just be prepared for unexpected laughs and random, yet super good, cheesecake along the way.

About You

We admire your decision and are thankful you are considering adoption.  Thank you for the honor of raising your child.  We promise to always be open and honest with our child about their adoption story; that includes making sure they understand they have first/birth parents who loved them fiercely.  We promise to love your child unconditionally for the rest of our lives.  We will encourage him/her to chase their dreams and pursue their interests.  We look forward to raising a well-rounded, well-adjusted, happy person who will feel confident and successful in their lives.  Thank you for your courage in placing your child for adoption.  We will forever be grateful to you.
