About Us/Me

We met in 2011, have been married for over 6 years, and have owned our house for over 4 years. We love traveling and outdoor sports and activities. David works as a mechanical engineer and Kelly is a pharmacist who currently stays home full time with our 3 year old daughter. Even before we met, we both felt that God was calling us to one day expand our family through adoption. After being diagnosed with unexplained infertility, we realized that adoption would indeed be the way our family would grow. Our daughter's birth mom found us through Choice Network and we enjoy an open relationship with her. It is so sweet to hear our daughter say her first momma's name. We hope that we will also have an open relationship with our second child’s birth family, but are willing to let them take the lead on how they want the relationship to go. Our parenting style can be described in one word: love. We believe that it is our job to nurture, support, and protect our daughter. She has a very strong and beautiful personality that we thoroughly enjoy. We set up boundaries to encourage her growth and development and to keep her safe. We enforce consequences such as timeouts and loss of privileges when she disobeys. Daily we reinforce our love for her through our words, actions, and lots of cuddles! We take the responsibility of being a transracial adoptive family very seriously. We hope that our daughter grows up to be proud of her beauty and heritage as a black woman. We strive to have many role models and friends in her life who are people of color. For example, this year we starting going to a new church that is very diverse and has a black pastor and worship leader. We continue to educate ourselves on the issues that will affect her life – everything from hair care to systemic racial injustices. With all we do, our hope is that our parental love and the love of God will be what grounds her, guides her, and motivates her to love others. Of course, one person we can’t wait to see her love is her new little sibling! She is very sweet to babies and we know she will be thrilled to become a big sister.

About You

Although we cannot completely understand what you are going through right now, we can identify with some of the feelings you may be having – sadness, disappointment, and fear of the unknown. We already have so much respect for you and the difficult decision you are making. Our hope is that we can come together to make something good out of the pain that we have experienced through infertility and that you have experienced through an unplanned pregnancy. We want to say, thank you. Thank you for choosing life and love. Thank you for choosing us to become part of your family in an unusual but wonderful way. It is going to be a beautiful day when we get to meet, and to become family, linked by the love we all have for your child.
