About Us/Me

Hello! We are Matthew and Ian, and we'd like to thank you for your bravery in considering adoption and for taking the time to learn about us. We are so excited to start this journey with you and cannot wait to welcome a child into our loving home.

Matthew grew up in Philadelphia and is the youngest of 4. He attended college at The Ohio State University, where he received bachelors degrees in marketing and political science. After college, Matthew stayed in Columbus and started a career in corporate retail. But despite wonderful travels and so-called success, Matthew realized he was capable of doing more, of giving more, of feeling more. So, he turned his passion for supporting the community into a Columbus-based nonprofit—Besa—where he is Founder and CEO.

Ian grew up in a small town in Ohio and is also the youngest of 4. He attended a local community college and eventually found himself in corporate retail at the same company as Matthew. In time, their paths crossed. And after climbing the corporate ladder, Ian pivoted his career to support Matthew's dream of launching a nonprofit. He is now Besa’s Director of Marketing and Philanthropy.

We have been together for 15 years and married for 4. We purchased a 100-year-old house that overlooks a historic park and renovated it into our dream home. We live in a sprawling neighborhood full of diverse families with children.

We both enjoy traveling and have been blessed to explore the world together. We love spending time cooking, volunteering, taking walks with our rescue dog, Lucy, and spending quality time with friends and family.

To us, family is everything—the families we were born into, and the family of amazing friends who surround us. We both were especially close with our grandmothers. (After discovering that Matthew’s Nan wouldn’t be able to travel to our wedding, we flew to her beforehand and got married in a secret ceremony with her as our witness. Matthew wears her wedding band as his own.)

We relish making our home feel welcoming and full of joy. Ian has a passion for baking, and during the holidays, you'll usually find him in the kitchen making cookies to continue a family tradition. (Matthew helps by eating them.)

Both of us feel lucky to have had childhoods full of love, adventure, and encouragement—especially from our grandmothers, who celebrated us for being our own unique selves. Our dream is to grow our family and give a child that same gift—the supportive, nurturing space to be whoever he, she, or they are destined to be. If you choose us, we will provide your child with a safe, happy, stable, caring, and love-filled life.

About You

We cannot fathom how difficult this decision must be for you, and we are grateful that you would consider giving us such a loving and selfless gift. Our promise is that we will do all we can as parents to provide your child unconditional love, kindness, and happiness throughout their life.

Both of us have always wanted children and the opportunity to build our own family. We have several friends who have adopted, and the joy and love shared have always been special to us. We would love to be able to experience that joy and the opportunity to love a child. Our hope is that if you choose us, you know your trust is well placed.

We are excited, along with our family and friends, to grow our family with you. Thank you for considering us!
